In order to most efficiently run an online school, distance education schools should have a Learning Management System (LMS) and a Student Management System (SMS).
A Learning Management System is software that automates the creation, delivery, tracking, and reporting of your academic and clinical coursework. Ideally, an LMS is set up to be centralized, portable and deliver learning content rapidly. Along with the ability to track your progress and determine which course materials are most engaging, an ideal system allows your professors to personalize and update educational materials in a timely manner.
Since 2016 MCU has used the Canvas Learning Management System from Instructure. Canvas is the #1 used LMS in the world, including being used by every Ivy League school in the USA. For more information please see the Canvas website – https://www.instructure.com/
You will receive your Canvas login information via email about one month before the start of the term. If you do not receive your Canvas login information by one week before the start of PROD 1000 – Orientation, please contact tech support (canvasliason@midwifery.edu).
